The Nikon ProStaff 3-9x40 riflescope has what it takes to accommodate almost any hunting style, including enough power for the longest shots and a wide field of view for thick brush and timber. The scope's main features include a multicoated lens system for up to 90 percent light transmission, a bullet drop compensating (BDC) reticle for easy holdover out to 600 yards (magnum calibers), and precise, repeatable 1/4 MOA reticle adjustments. The BDC reticle is perhaps the most compelling feature, as its trajectory-compensating system is designed and calibrated to provide fast, simple aiming points for various shot distances. The unique system integrates a series of small "ballistic circles" to produce an unobstructed view of the target. The scope's high-performance lenses, meanwhile, are coated with multiple layers of anti-reflective compounds. The compounds serve to boost light transmission, improve contrast (to pull game out of its surroundings), deliver true color rendition and flare-free viewing, and enhance the overall image quality. Plus, the ProStaff scope is ready for years of reliable service thanks to its 100 percent waterproof and fogproof housing. I rate this scope 5 stars for use on a muzzle loader. The optics are very good for a scope in this price range. The Bullet Drop Compensator works great for the 50 cal. front loader. I can highly recommend this scope for its overall value. It's a bargain!

I am very pleased with my new Nikon scope.The optics are very clear,sighted in on my rifle and is very consistant.Would buy another when I need to replace one of my other scopes.Excellent value for the price.

The first scope that arrived did not function properly (crosshairs would not move with adjustments). I sent the scope back to Nikon and they sent me a new one that works fine.

This is a great scope for the price. Right out of the box it performed like a champ. The BDC reticle is dead on. Once you site it in your ready to go. First time out it took a coyote at 400 yards. I highly recommend this scope to all hunters on a budget.
