Amazon.com Review The Barska Blackhawk 60mm spotting scope is a terrific value because it offers very good optical performance in a compact and affordable package. The scope itself features waterproof design, multicoated optics, and a zoom eyepiece with magnification ranging from 20X up to 60X. The accessories include a light weight table-top tripod, a soft caring case, and a durable hard shell case that will allow the rubber armored scope to stand up to a lifetime of use. The Blackhawk 60mm spotting scope uses a multi-coated objective lens and rugged porro-prism design for bright, clear images. At 100 yards, I can clearly focus in on a target, even when I crank the magnification up to the maximum 60X. When I use the scope for wildlife spotting, the sweet spot seems to be about 30X magnification; 30X gives me an ideal combination of sharp images and a wide field of view, perfect for identifying Puffins and Pelicans along the coast. I also like the compact size and light weight of the Blackhawk 60. At only 14 inches long and weighing less than two pounds, the Blackhawk 60 is light enough to use a photo tripod such as the SLIK U-9000 in the field. Like other entry level spotting scopes, the Barska Blackhawk 60 uses an Achromatic objective lens, which means that some false color or blue fringing is noticeable at high power. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the quality and value of the binoculars and spotting scopes imported by Barska the last few years. The Barska Blackhawk 60mm spotting scope simply offers very good optical performance for a very reasonable price. --Jeff Phillips Pros: - Excellent price/performance ratio
- Very good Achromatic optics
- Waterproof design with rubber coating
- Premium hard shell case included
Cons: - Blue fringing noticeable at high power
- Limited eye relief for eyeglass wearers

Great scope for the price July 28, 2010 Leonard D. Humes (San Diego, CA USA) I really was surprised by the function of the lens caps. The cap over the sight lens is threaded on. That keeps it from getting lost by falling off. Really clear field of vision.
Spotter July 11, 2010 Lincoln Willard (Los Angeles) I wanted to get a closer look at the birds in my area and planned to go to the beach more this year and look out across the ocean at the boats that passed. This scope is quite adequate for my needs, except for the tripod which is small and of no use to me. I attached the scope to my camera tripod. The tripods ability to rise or lower the scope and so similar mechanical things works just fine. Of course my adaption adds weight. I am wondering about buying a single pod to attach my scope to.
Barska Blackhawk 20-60x60 March 26, 2010 William W. Weatherby This item is inexpensive because it isn't as good as the ones that cost 2 to 10 times as much. But it still works. It's light weight and seems rugged. It came with a hard case that was way better than what I expected, and a soft case that is nice too. The little tripod is cheep but works. I like it just fine.
Excellent value March 5, 2010 John in Texas Great product for the price. Hardcase is excellent and the tripod is just ok. As a spotting scope this one is perfect for the price, clear optics and an all around good value.
Works Great December 30, 2009 R. Francis 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Works great at 100 yards. Nice to have my own scope and not have to try and find one at the range that works.
