Don't Waste Your Money August 9, 2010 Walt Shiel (Michigan's Upper Peninsula) This was the second WildView camera I've purchased, the first one was a regular flash model that has worked well for two years particularly through our very cold winters.
So I decided to buy this IR model. It worked great...for the FIRST TWO WEEKS. Then it quit.
Called the company. They said no problem, send it back and they'd replace it. Two weeks after I knew they'd received it, I called to find out the status on the replacement. A very nice gentleman informed me that they were on back order.
Three weeks more pass with nothing from WildView. I just called and was told it still on BACK ORDER WITH NO ESTIMATE FOR DELIVERY. They won't refund my money because I bought it from Amazon. Can't get a refund from Amazon because WildView now has the camera.
If you do buy one and it breaks, send it back to Amazon. Don't even try to exchange it with WildView. They have a serious problem in their supply chain and, quite possibly, their quality control at the factory (probably in China).
Amazon claims to still have these units in stock. WildView should buy the Amazon stock and send out the replacement units. I have to wonder just how many replacement units they have on back order.
I'm going to have to buy another camera in the interim (definitely NOT a WildView) since I have no idea how long they're going to sit on this problem.
not a good deal August 5, 2010 gemini1966 I bought the camera and it drained the batteries in two days. It was set to take three pictures at a time with 1 minute intervals. Some pictures were in color and some nothing but a black and white blur. It took pictures of nothing. For the money, I would NOT recommend this product. The battery door is not secure, which means the time and date keep reverting back to 10-18-08, whatever that means. It has to be set every day. At night it does not always "flash" a picture and an animal about 10 feet from the camera cannot be clearly seen. Major waste of money.
Very good for cheap security August 3, 2010 Shortcut I got the camera to watch my yard due to some recent trouble with people tresspassing and stealing whatever wasn't bolted down.
I installed the camera just under the roof at a slight downward angle looking over my yard. I had to change the position slightly because I ended up with a photo of every car that drove past the house. Now it works great.
The 12 volt battery is in the attic with the cable running out a small hole I drilled to the camera.
Make sure you get the 16GB card unless you want to climb up and check the card every few days.
Works good most of the time August 3, 2010 Landon Axt I got this because my car kept getting broken into.
The first set of batteries lasted about a month with use every night and use a few days a week.
Daytime pics are great
Night time pics are blurry if the person or animal is not standing still.
I had to use the record option for night to ensure I could get a good idea of what the people looked like.
After my first set of batteries died the dead battery light would not go off even when I put in new batteries so the camera became non-functional. I mailed it back to the manufacturer and am currently waiting to receive my replacement.
All in all though I'm happy with this camera, it's an inexpensive and fun way to watch whats going on around my car at my apartment complex.
I have the older version of this one.. i like it. July 19, 2010 Craig M. Zacarelli (wallingford,ct.) I have the older version of this.. I believe at the time (about 3-4 years ago) it was the base model.. no bells and whistles.. something like 1.3 MP so the images are way small.. hard to print out a decent 4x6 photo. Anyhow, while image quality lacks somewhat I realize this is not a camera for taking any type of award winning photos, it does do what it is made for and does it pretty well... it takes pretty ok pics of wild life. Now, just like with hunting, I can scope a spot for a few days and see if its gonna be worht dragging my butt out at what ever time and hauling a bunch of photo gear to some desolate spot in no mans land and set up and wait for that clear shot (photograph) of what ever it is im scoping. here are some recent pics from my back yard.. if you care to look. these are from the wildview...keep in mind i have tweaked them some in Photoshop to bring out what little more detail I could.
